Eleanor's Story

Eleanor Pauline Trometter, 98, beloved Mom, "Mammy", and great-grandma, of 699 Boyles Run Road, Sunbury, went to be with the Lord at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, Dec. 27, 2017, at the Sunbury Community Health and Rehab Center, 2nd Floor, of the Sunbury Hospital.
She was born April 24, 1919, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Elizabeth M. (Jasielon) Volinskie. On Nov. 10, 1943, in St. Stanislaus Church, Shamokin, by the Rev. Isadore Kowalski, she married Morris W. Trometter, who preceded her in death on June 14, 2005.

Eleanor attended the River School at Fisher's Ferry.
She was employed by the Spruce Street Factory and Silk Mill in Sunbury until her marriage to Morris.
She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Sunbury, and especially enjoyed her visits with Father Fred Wangwe. Father Fred was very special to Mom.
Eleanor loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed canning from the family garden, baking pies for the holidays, Saturday excursions with her daughters, and her morning cup of coffee with her son. Mom will be sadly missed, always loved, and never forgotten.

Eleanor is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Morris and Cindy Trometter, of Sunbury; three daughters and one son-in-law, Rita and Betty Trometter, of Sunbury, and Carol and Garry Martz, of Northumberland; five grandchildren, Vanessa and Brian Day, of Selinsgrove, Aaron and April Trometter, of Selinsgrove, Kyle Trometter and fiancee, Heather Bowers, of Sunbury, Krista and Tim Keeley, of Northumberland, and Sarah and Eric Swanger, of Seattle, Wash.; five great-grandchildren, Brandon and Hannah Day, Abigail and Avery Trometter, and Tessa Keeley.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters, Josephine, Helen, Stanley, and Eddie Volinskie, Martha Wachowski, Julie Poplaski, Stanley "Doc", Joseph, and Peter Volinskie; and her beloved cat, Sherbert.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Monica Church, Market Street, Sunbury, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11.
Interment will be in the Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor's memory to St. Monica Church, 109 Market St., Sunbury, PA 17801.
