Edwin Asher N. Edwin Asher "Boonie", 85, of 9 North Chestnut Place, Lewisburg, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 9, 2018 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village.

A native of Union County, he was born in Lewisburg, Sept. 18, 1932, a son of the late Edwin S. and Myra (Flick) Asher. He married the former Nancy Wilson and his death breaks a marital union of almost 60 years.

Ed was a 1950 graduate of Lewisburg High School and a 1954 graduate of Bucknell University. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict.

Ed retired from the Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee Foods as a Food Technologist.

He was a member of St Paul's United Methodist Church of Lewisburg, serving as a trustee and Sunday School Superintendent. Ed was active in the food bank of Lewisburg and made and delivered sandwiches to the Heiter Center. He was a member of Charity Lodge #144 Lewisburg, the Williamsport Consistory, and the Lewisburg American Legion Post #182. He enjoyed fishing, baseball, football, basketball, and was an avid Bucknell sports fan.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters and their husbands, LeeAnn (Bob) Anderson of Lewisburg, and Suzann (Rob) Smith of Lewisburg; three grandchildren, Samuel Smith, Luke Smith and Brian Anderson; and two sisters, Frances Baker of Lewisburg, and Lois Beaver (JR) of Richmond, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Hartman.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Donations in Ed's memory may be made to either North Central PA Alzheimer's Disease, Harrisburg, PA or to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 42 South Fourth St., Lewisburg.
