Edward L. Savidge, 71, of rural Benton (Pine Township), died late Thursday evening, Aug. 22, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 20, 1948, in Danville, a son of Joyce C. (Miller) Savidge of Sunbury and the late Ralph E. Savidge. He and his wife, the former Marjorie Read, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on Feb. 13, 2019.
Ed was a 1966 graduate of Shamokin High School and then enlisted in the Marine Corps where he attained the rank of corporal. He served in active duty in the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Ed was a member of the former Sheeps Baptist Church and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association.
He was a self-taught mechanic and enjoyed working on vehicles and motorcycles. He had also coached soccer and was an avid supporter of his children's events.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by 10 children, Helen M. Litwhiler, Christine L. Byers, Jennifer J. Savidge, Scott E. Savidge, William E. Savidge, Bobbie J. Campbell, Shawn A. Savidge, Kurt E. Savidge, Daryl T. Savidge, and Regina M. Savidge; a stepdaughter, Heather Gordon and her husband, Fred; 32 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sandy Yordy and Yvonne Ross; and two brothers, Dean and Kenneth Savidge.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Raven Creek Presbyterian Memorial Hall, with the Rev. O. Allen Lumpkin officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ed's memory to the Hillman Cancer Center, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
