Earl's Story

Earl H. Sheatler, 73, of Watsontown, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, with family by his side.

Born Aug. 27, 1943, in Turbotville, he was the son of the late Jesse and Elsie (Kashner) Sheatler. On Nov. 29, 1969, he married the former Jacqueline M. Smith, and together they celebrated 48 years of marriage.

Earl was a 1961 graduate of Warrior Run High School. He was a member of the Watsontown Masonic Lodge No. 401, Williamsport Consistory, and Irem Shrine, Dallas, Pa.

Earl was employed in the trucking industry for 47 years, until retiring two short years ago. The time he spent employed with his father, Jesse, at M&G Convoy was a significant part of his life.

He exemplified a life of giving his best efforts into everything. At 12, he began working on Turbotville area farms and had a paper route. Since he wasn't able to be involved with school sports and activities, Earl made sure his children had his constant support and involvement for all of their activities, especially their education.

Earl quietly practiced his faith by never waiting for anyone to ask for help, but saw the need and provided funds, food, and assistance for family and strangers over the years. He also helped the voiceless by rescuing many cats and kittens throughout his life.

Earl measured his life by the smiles he could bring to the faces of family. He would say, "I have all I need with their love. I am proud of the people they are, loving and successful."

He wanted to wish thanks to his brother-in-law, Keith Smith; and sisters-in-law, Diane Smith and Lesia Spaar, for a lifetime of love and support, especially during his illness.

In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by a son, Shawn E. Sheatler, of Baltimore, Md.; a daughter, Cher M. Weidner and her husband Ryan, of Baltimore; and a sister, Pearl M. Keefer.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Jesse B. Sheatler Jr. and Fred W. Sheatler.

A masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday with visitation to follow until 7 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m.

Burial will held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Earl's memory be made to the Beckoning Cat Project, 1417 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or the Danville SPCA, 2801 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Services, PC, Watsontown.
