Dorothy L. Whiteman, 93, formerly of Lewistown, passed away on Nov. 23, 2017, at the William Penn Nursing Home.
She was born July 15, 1924, in Altoona, a daughter of the late David and Beryl (Mason) Miller. In 1948, she married Carl Whiteman who preceded her in death in 1969.
Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of McVeytown-Bratton-Oliver High School, and a graduate of the Baltimore School of Nursing as an RN.
She retired from the Selinsgrove Center after 21 years of service.
Dorothy housed and loved numerous pets throughout the years and received much joy from her cats.
She loved traveling and was an avid sports fan.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Elizabeth Bowden and companion Lon Fisher, of Sunbury, Samuel Whiteman and wife Mary, of McVeytown, and Suzanne Ramsay and husband Corey, of Lewistown; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Doris Clemens, of Burnham, Nina Anderson and John "Punkin" Miller, both of Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Donald; and one sister, Ann (Miller) Swain.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Barr Funeral Home and Crematory, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, followed by a memorial service at 2.
