Donna Marie Ranck, 72, of Sunbury, peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Select Specialty Hospital, Danville.
She was born Nov. 29, 1944, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Martha B. (Keiser) and Albert E. Garinger. On Aug. 19, 1963, she married Elwood R. Ranck who preceded her in death on March 12, 2009.
Donna was a 1962 graduate of Sunbury High School.
She was employed by the Shikellamy School District for 36 years as a teacher's aide and secretary from 1976 until she retired in 2012.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church, United Church of Christ and was active in The Women of the Church.
Family was the most important thing in Donna's life. She enjoyed time spent at the Ferster cabin, baking Christmas cookies, traveling with her sisters-in-law/side-kicks, Vicki and Kay, annual family trips to the beach and collecting tiny sea shells. She especially loved playing cards with her sister Jane, brother-in-law, Lawrence, and best friend, Janie Getz. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, puzzles, word searches, knitting, crocheting, crafts, and always being "on the go".
Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.
She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Teresea L. and Michael J. Klinger and Connie S. Smith; grandchildren, Andrew J. Smith and Aaron M. Smith; sisters and brother-in-laws, Vera and James Moist, B. Jane and Lawrence Ferster; brother and sister-in-law, James and Kay Garinger; sister-in-law, Vicki Garinger; brother-in-law, Edward Seal; stepson, Robert F. Ranck and his children; grandchildren, Melissa L. Edler, Robert A. Ranck, Miranda E.M.Elder, Mikayla M. Edler and Nicholas R. Ranck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Marlin Garinger; sister, Peggy Seal; and son-in-law, Bruce T. Smith Jr.
Friends and Family will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First Reformed Church, United Church of Christ, 160 Chestnut St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Janna Born Larsen, officiating.
Burial will be in Pomfret Manor Cemetery, Sunbury.
Funeral arrangements are by Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
