Donald's Story

Donald E. Miller, 81, of 8 Ettington Drive, Bella Vista, Arkansas and formerly of Wilson Circle in Milton and Alvira Court in Allenwood, passed away on May 25, 2016, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Union County, a son of the late Theodore M. and Dorothy P. (Beaver) Miller. On May 28, 1955, he was married to the former Lorraine E. Messinger, who survives.
Donald graduated from Milton High School in 1952 and from Stevens Trade School in Lancaster in 1955.
He worked at American Home Foods for 39 years before retiring in 1996.
Donald was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Milton where he served six years on the Church Council and many other committees. He was on the Milton Borough Council for 16 years, serving as vice president for eight of those years. He also served on the Milton planning commission for 16 years, was on the Milton Community Pool Board, a life member of the Milton Fire Dept., served 30 years with the Milton Fire and Reserve Police, a life member of the Spruce Run Hunting Club, served 8 years on the Northumberland County Welfare Board, served on the Northumberland County Republican Executive Board, served as Upper Northumberland County Republican Chairman, a member of F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge 256 in Milton and Williamsport Consistory, a life member of Snyder Historical Society, a life and charter member of Warrior Run Fort Freeland Historical Society, a member of the Tiadaghton Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, Williamsport, a member of the Silver and Gold Club of A.H.F., a board member of Gregg Township Municipal Authority, served on the election board in Gregg Township in Allenwood and he volunteered for the Upper Northumberland County American Red Cross. He was a volunteer usher for the past 6 years at the Little League World Series in South Williamsport.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimi L. Hawkins, of Eureka Springs, Ark., and Lisa J. and husband Matthew Baker, of Bella Vista, Ark.; his twin brother, David E. Miller, of Milton; one brother, Raymond N. Miller, of Carlsbad, Calif.; and two grandsons, Robert Baker and Kristopher Baker, both of Bella Vista, Ark.
A small family gathering will be held at United Lutheran Church, Bella Vista, Ark., at the convenience of the family. It was Don's wishes that any remembrances be made in Don's memory to the Milton High School Alumni Association, PO Box 515, Milton, PA.
