Donald G. "Bugs" Ewing, 72, of Treaster Road, McClure, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at UPMC, Susquehanna, Williamsport.
He was born June 17, 1945, in Lewistown, a son of the late Glen and Shirley (Spigelmyer) Ewing. On Oct. 25, 1969, he married the former Sarah J. Walter who survives.
Donald attended West Snyder High School and was a veteran of the Army.
Early in his life he had farmed, and later worked at Bickel Wood Products, Lyon Fashions, Matterns Hatchery, Stanley Wood Working, and retired from Conestoga. Following his retirement he had worked part time at Saylor's Market.
He attended Manbeck Church.
Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, yard sales, and farming. He was a collector and had an extensive toy tractor and marble collection. Bugs was a faithful blood donor. The great joy of his life were his grandchildren and his great-grandson.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Denise and John Jordan, of Beavertown, Bernice Hackenberg, of McClure, and Dawn and Gary Bingaman, of Middleburg; five grandchildren, Morgan Jordan and companion, Stephen Fisher, Leanna and Keaton Bingaman, Issac Jordan, and Conner Boyer; and great-grandson, Kohen Fisher; three brothers, Dennis Ewing and Clay Ewing, both of McClure, and Walker Ewing, of Selinsgrove; and two sisters, Kay Goss, of Beaver Springs and Glenda Wagner, of Middleburg.
He was preceded in death by one sister in infancy, Debra.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2, with the Rev. Jimmy Neimond officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Baker's Church Cemetery, McClure.
