David's Story

Text size

David C. Rute, 33 of Spottswood Drive, Milton, took Jesus' hand and entered his kingdom and left ours, on Feb. 12, 2018.
He was born Oct. 6, 1984, in Lewisburg, a son of Gary W. and Connie A. (Shultz) Rute of Milton.

David was a 2003 graduate of Milton High School, where he lettered in football and baseball, and a 2007 graduate of Bloomsburg University, earning a bachelors degree in Geography and Environmental Planning. He played on the Husky baseball team.
He had owned his own business, Lycoming Air Cleaning, selling Rainbow Vacuum systems and later worked at Front Street Motors in Sunbury where he was top salesman for many months. His favorite job was working for DCNR out of Little Pine Creek where he lived in a cabin with his buddy, Rory O' Brian.
David attended the First Baptist Church in Milton.
David's greatest passion was spending time with his son, teaching him baseball, and taking him on walks and having their special father/son talks. David liked playing baseball for the Mifflinburg Phillies, fishing and being outdoors. He loved animals and could never understand how people could harm them. He enjoyed a good debate and was always trying to gain new knowledge. He enjoyed vacations in Sea Isle City with his family. His contagious smile will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his parents; one son, Greyson T. Rute of Milton; one brother and sister-in-law, Jared and Angelica Rute of Arizona; paternal grandparents, Gary L. and Bonnie Rute of Milton; maternal grandparents, Judy and Ronald Robbins of Milton; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
David was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ronald Shultz; and stepgrandfather, John Viau.

Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, 316 Golf Course Road, Milton, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Jamie Dries officiating.
Burial will be in Milton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers an account has been set up for his son, Greyson, at the West Milton State Bank.
