Daniel Burl "Duck" Funk, 80, a life long resident of Sunbury, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
He was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Sunbury, a son of John E. and Sophia A (Molyneaux) Funk Forrey. His death breaks a marital union of 55 years to the former Bonnie L. Baker of Newport.
Daniel attended Sunbury High School.
He retired from Young Door Company/Jeld-Wen after 45 years of service.
He was a life member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sunbury. He was an active member of the community and served as a baseball coach, Scout Master, football coach, PTA president, and president of the Carpenter's Union.
In his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, trapping, and sports. He was an avid supporter of his grandchildren sporting events. He lived his life to the fullest and loved his family and the Lord with all his heart.
He is survived by one son, Duane E. Funk; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda L. and Chris Buckles, and Belinda L. and Marlin Heim; grandchildren, Ryan and Tiffany, Jacqueline and Danika Funk, Jon and Justin Pennycoff, Jessica and Carlos Ramos, and Benjamin and Braelyn Heim, Zackary Miller, Jennifer Capozzi , Christopher and Cory Buckles and Ralph Thompson; great-grandchildren, Cassius, Kingston, and Calliope Funk, Eve and Ceasar Bingaman, Kaitlyn, Alexandra, and Lilyana Ramos, Abigail and Caroline Capozzi, and Jameson Miller; one brother, George E. Funk; three sisters, Elizabeth M. Hunt, Grace B. Teats, and Mary M. Shellenberger; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty L. Bostian and Romayne E. Funk; and one brother, Robert E. Funk.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by a memorial service at 5.
