Craig A. "Huey" VanHorn, 58, of Market Street, New Berlin, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, Dec. 4, 2017, on Shade Mountain while hunting.
He was born Dec. 20, 1958, in Lewisburg, a son of Robert E. and Erma K. (Miller) VanHorn, of New Berlin.
Huey was a 1977 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
Earlier he had been employed at Q-E Manufacturing, New Berlin, and was currently operating Craig VanHorn's Auto Body Shop, New Berlin.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, New Berlin, the Summit Hunting Camp on Shade Mountain, the Mifflinburg Masonic Lodge, and was currently serving on the New Berlin Water Authority Board.
Huey was an avid hunter and enjoyed racing at local tracks. For many years he was on the crew for Blaine Heimbach racing.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Thomas Hartman, of Penns Creek; one brother and sister-in-law, Steven "Skip" and Ann VanHorn, of New Berlin; two nieces whom he loved to tease, Amy Poff and Andrea and Nick Gemberling, all of Middleburg; and one great niece, Aleah Gemberling.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert VanHorn Jr., in 1979.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Andrew Fitch officiating.
Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery.
