Cora Ellen Jones, 83, of 4053 Upper Road, Shamokin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Sept. 22, 1934, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Ralph and Lena (Haines) Crowle. On Sept. 12, 1953, in Phillipsburg, N.J., she married John E. Jones who survives.
Cora was a 1952 graduate of Coal Township High School.
Cora had many jobs. She was a clerk for Wolf's Department Store, a cafeteria worker for Shamokin Area School District, a pharmacy clerk for Kulpmont Pharmacy, and as owner of Cora's Bridal Shop in Coal Township.
She loved her church and was a member of Sunbury Bible Church. Prior to Sunbury Bible she was a Sunday school teacher and youth leader for Salem United Church of Christ, and an organist for Grace Chapel and for Sunbury Bible Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John R. and Donna Jones and Kevin R. and Joni Jones, all of Danville, and Todd E. and Beth Jones of Paxinos; six grandchildren, Kelly, Amanda, Joanna, Stephanie, Julie and Kendra; and five great-grandchildren, Caleb, Levi, Henry, Hannah and Samuel.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Farrow Funeral Directors, Sixth and Chestnut streets, Shamokin, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Ferd Madara presiding.
Burial will be in the Odd fellows Cemetery.
