Charlotte N. Fox

Charlotte N. "Tootie" Fox, 96, of Shamokin, went peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, at the Geisinger Medical Center. She was married to James E. Fox with whom she shared 52 years of marriage until his death on Oct. 14, 1993.

Her mother later married Williard Wiest who became Charlotte's stepfather. Other than a few years in New Jersey when young, she resided in the Shamokin area.

Charlotte put her faith and family first her entire life. Volunteer work was extremely important to her. She was involved in numerous activities within her church, St. John's U.C.C. Charlotte was also very active in the band boosters, PTA, Tall Cedars Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Hospital Auxiliary, Women's Club, and Boy Scouts Auxiliary, and enjoyed singing with the Choraliers.

She held various jobs earlier in life but the most important one was as secretary for the Shamokin School District where she was introduced to her future husband by her future father-in-law who was also her boss.

Her hobbies included traveling on bus trips, dancing, gardening, and spending time with family. Charlotte's greatest blessings were her children and their families.

Charlotte is survived by her sons, James B., of Carlisle, Robert E. (Marty), of New Columbia, and William E. (Patty), of Williamsport; daughter-in-law, Barbara Alderson, of Carlisle; son-in-law, Daniel Koss, of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Danny Fox, Jeff Fox, Karen (Dane) Sweeney, Scott (Heidi) Fox, Todd (Alicia) Fox, Evelyn (Chris) Fox, Chris (Heather) Fox, and Lindsey Clayton; great-grandchildren, Jake, Deven, Dillan, Kelise, Hazel, Juliana, Jayce, Cole.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Barbara A. Koss; and a stepgrandson, Chad H. Fry.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Farrow's Funeral Home, 240 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, followed by the funeral at 1.
