Charles D. "Buddy" Steininger, 75, formerly of Middleburg, passed away on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
He was born Feb. 7, 1942, in Danville, a son of the late John J. Sr. and Ardna K. (Soles) Steininger.
Buddy was a 1960 graduate of Middleburg High School where he was president of his class, prom king, and played in different sports. Following graduation he attended Valley Forge Military Academy. In 1964, he was inducted into the Army were he served with Company B 19th Combat Engineer Battalion. He was discharged in 1966 after service in Vietnam.
He was employed in construction and at the family business, Steininger's TV, Appliances and Hardware, Middleburg.
Buddy enjoyed hunting, going to Subway, his cat Reddy, and his dog, Baloo.
He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, John Jr. and Alice Steininger, of Paxtonville; one sister and brother-in-law, Kitty and James Landis, of Middleburg; nine nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Brent and Shirley Steininger; and one niece.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with Rev. Brian Lucas officiating.
Burial with military honors by the Middlewest Veterans Honor guard will be in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
