Charles E. "Sam" Spade, 70, of 171 S. Main St., Herndon, passed away on Sept. 1, 2017, at the Sunbury Hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1947, in Sunbury, a son of the late Charles E. and Verna M. (Herb) Spade. On Oct. 7, 1967, he married the former Donna Chubb who preceded him on Feb. 29, 2012.
Sam worked in various businesses during his career, as a truck driver for Mandata Poultry and then in sanitation for Holsum Bakery.
He was a member of the Herndon Fire Company and the Mandata Legion.
Sam was a practical joker. enjoyed hunting and fishing and butchered meats, making the best sausage.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy L. and David Sciascia, of Sunbury; grandson, Hunter L. Ross; siblings, Melvin L. and Patricia Spade, of Herndon, Vera and Rudy Wertz, of Millersburg, David Spade, of Herndon, Deanna and Earl Latsha, of Sunbury; sister-in-law, Carol Chubb, of Shamokin; brother-in-law, Ronald and Suzanne Chubb, of Coal Township; and nieces and nephews.
Service is at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury.
