Charles H. Phillips, 90, formerly of Dornsife, passed away Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
He was born May 15, 1927, in Dornsife, a son of the late Lewis H. and Edith M. (Zartman) Phillips. He was married for more than 70 years to the former Joyce Klock who survives.
Charles was a coal miner and a partner for the Phillips Coal Company in Little Mahanoy Township. He later worked and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church Hunter Station and Lower Northumberland County Senior Action Center.
His favorite hobby was leather crafting, and he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Paul Herrold, of Enola; two grandchildren and their spouses, Monica and Joe Fagan, of Mechancisburg, and Michael and Sharon Herrold, of Halifax; and two great-grandchildren, Skyler and Zachary Fagan.
A viewing will held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Route 225, Hunter Station, followed by a celebration of life at 11, with the Rev. Glen B. Keidel Jr., officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are by the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
