Charles W. Peifer, 86, of Coal Township and formerly of Trevorton, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at Mountain View, A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township.
He was born in Trevorton on Feb. 15, 1931, a son of the late John H. and Resta (Haupt) Peifer.
Charles was married on Dec. 31, 1959, to the former Alice R. Smith who preceded him in death on June 16, 2008.
He attended Trevorton schools and served in the Army.
Charles was a life-long resident of Trevorton. He retired as a machinist at AMP Inc., Selinsgrove. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Surviving are a son-in-law, Robert Simpson, of Harrisburg; two grandsons, William and Andrew Simpson; his companion, Nancy Heim, of Trevorton, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Simpson; two sisters, Anna Kehres and June Rothermel; and three brothers, Milton, Joe and Bob Peifer.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, where the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Hugh Coulbourn officiating.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
