Charles L. "Tom" Bastian, 66, of Milton, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born Oct. 31, 1950, in Lewisburg, a son of the late William and Jean (Cohrs) Bastian. He was married to the former Dawn "Jeanne" Schoonmaker and his death breaks a marital union of 36 years.
Tom was a 1968 graduate of Milton High School and had served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He had been employed by USF Red Star.
Tom was a member of the Montandon United Methodist Church. He was active in the community in many aspects, most notably with beginning the fishing derby at the Moose in Milton and stocking Limestone Creek with trout for children. He also helped with the Harvest Festival parade for several years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Shawn Bastian, of Columbus, Ohio; one grandson, Tyler Bastian; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jay A. and Terri Bastian, of Milton, and William G. Bastian and Sharon Morgan, of New Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
Following Tom's wishes, graveside services with military honors will be held at noon Thursday in the Montandon Cemetery, with Pastor Joan Dodson officiating. After the service everyone is invited to the Montandon United Methodist Church, Route 45, Montandon for a time of fellowship and refreshment to celebrate Tom's life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom's honor may be made to Montandon United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 87, Montandon, PA 17850.
