Beauty. Strength. Power. Generous. Infinite capacity for love. These words hint at the spirit of Catherine "Kate" Frances (Rumberger) Wachter who ascended to Heaven on Monday, April 24, 2017.
Her journey was preceded by her brother, James, and her mother, Frances (Baluta) Rumberger.
She was born in Danville on May 30, 1950.
Kate attended St. Edward Grade School, Shamokin, and graduated from Shikellamy High School in 1968, and Keystone Junior College.
Kate's spirit lives on through her family, including Walter, her husband and soulmate of 46 wonderful years; their four sons, Marc, Matt, Mike and Walter; her father, Dr. William J. Rumberger, of Sunbury; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Hedy Zmijewski, of Carmel, Ind., and Lisa Wisman, of Winchester, Va.; two brothers, Dr. William J. Rumberger Jr., of Elysburg, and Victor J. Rumberger, of Sunbury; and her beloved Weimaraner, Gracie. Kate gave generously of her time and talents to her family and community.
Kate and Walter raised their family in New Jersey and recently found North Fort Myers to provide the beauty and tranquility that fulfilled her heart's passion. Her smile and laughter lit up a room and was contagious to all. She enjoyed tropical vacations with her large family, being involved with her local community's social committee, crafts of all kinds, and spending time with her husband, sons and their families.
News of her passing resounded through family and friends circles quickly and reverberated back with an outpouring of love and volumes of stories of how Kate's life touched and improved others. She will be deeply missed. Her life's passions and spirit will be carried forward and upward by her family for generations to come. If Kate's time on earth could have been supported by love alone, she would have lived forever. "And He will rise you up on eagle's wings; Bear you on the breath of dawn; Make you to shine like the sun; And hold you in the palm of His hand."
A celebration of Kate's life will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. at The Mansion in Vorhees, N.J., in the Tiffany Rosecliff Room.
