Catherine L. "Kate" (Lupo) Neitz, 93, of Milton, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at the Geisinger Home Health & Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville.
She was born in Albion, N.Y., a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Caterina (LaBarberi) Lupo who immigrated to the United States from Palermo, Italy, in the late 1800s.
Kate moved to Milton as a young girl and attended Milton schools.
Kate's greatest joy was her family (children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews) taking great delight in cooking and spending endless hours in her kitchen sharing meals, love, joy and happiness with all of her family. She also enjoyed many bus trips touring the country with her husband during their retirement years.
Kate was a very active and devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Milton and was one of the church's longest held parishioners. She belonged to the Parish Council of Catholic Women, working countless hours at the Friday evening fish dinners, preparing funeral luncheons for other parishioners and doing whatever she was asked to do. She was also a former member of the Milton Women's Club and local and national AARP organizations and had volunteered at the local Hands Up Food Bank and the Red Cross Blood Mobile.
Kate is survived by her four children, Robert (Lucy) Neitz, Jr., Peggy (Bud) Harris, all of Florida, Tom (Inez) Neitz and Jim (Lori) Neitz, all of Milton; six grandchildren, Robert III and Jason Neitz, Terri Seibert, Adam, Jesse and Amy Neitz; and three great-grandchildren, Drew and Brooke Seibert and Sofia Neitz.
In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert M. Neitz Sr.; five brothers, Tony, Andrew, Gasper, Joseph and Gerald; four sisters, Mary, Jennie, Rose and Dolly, along with one brother and three sisters who died during childhood.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front St., Milton, followed by a memorial Mass at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Broadway St., Milton. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Milton.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Broadway St., Milton, PA 17847, or to Geisinger Home Health & Hospice at Maria Hall, 410 Glenn Ave., Suite 200, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
