Bonita C. Boyer, 80, of Penns Creek, passed away on Saturday morning, June 10, 2017, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
She was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Penns Creek, a daughter of the late Samuel and Dorothy (Walters) Hartman. She was married for more than 30 years to William E. Boyer Sr. who preceded her in death in 1985.
Bonita had been employed by Keister's Poultry Dressing, Penns Creek, the Laurelton Center, and for more than 40 years, she was employed at Hi Li Corp., Penns Creek. She had worked there the day it opened till the day it closed.
She was a former member of the ladies auxiliary of the Penns Creek Fire Company.
Bonita enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and especially shopping. She found her greatest joy in her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.
She is survived two daughters and one son-in-law, Jody DeLong, of Penns Creek, and Lisa and James Leitzel, of Middleburg; four grandchildren, TJ, Sally Dodge, Thomas Gantt II, and Randall Schell; six great-grandchildren, Haley, Dawson, Jaden, Gabriel, Sadie, and Malachi; and two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Richard "Dick" and Debbie Layton, of Arizona, Thomas "Tom" and Karen Hartman, of Penns Creek, and Sharon Hartman, of Mifflinburg
She was preceded in death by two sons, William E. Boyer Jr. and Tony L. Boyer; one grandson, Dustin Leitzel; and two brothers, Samuel Hartman and Claude Hartman.
At Bonita's request, there will be no viewing. The family will receive visitors from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 10, with the Rev. Alice Rauch officiating.
Burial will be in the Penns Creek Union Cemetery.
