Beverly J. Knecht, 83, of Sunbury, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
She was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Fox) Persing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugne Knecht, on Aug. 2, 1994.
She graduated from Sunbury high school in 1950.
Beverly was formerly employed by Montgomery Ward in Sunbury and last by the Mansion Nursing Home, Sunbury.
She was a member of the Catawissa Avenue United Methodist Church, Sunbury. She served as a foster grandparent at the Chief Shikellamy School in Sunbury.
She was a die hard New York Mets fan, an avid bowler and loved reading.
Beverly is survived by one daughter, Kim E. and husband, Don F. Bickel, of Northumberland; one granddaughter, Amanda Bickel; and one brother, Charles Persing Jr., of Sunbury.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold; one sister, Thelma Walls; and two sisters in infancy.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations in Beverly's memory to A Community Clinic, 344 Market St., Sunbury, for the caring of kids.
