Betty's Story

Betty J. (Dotts) Rother, 87, of South Turbot Avenue, Milton, formerly of White Deer, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born April 5, 1930, in Milton, a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Bastian) Dotts. She was married to Robert Rother III who preceded her in death in 2008.

Betty attended Milton schools and worked as a housekeeper.
She was a member of Faith Chapel in White Deer.
Betty liked to dance and loved to spend time with her family and friends.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas "Butch" and Lisa Smith, of Watsontown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Brenda Yocum, of Bloomsburg and Lisa and John Smith, of White Deer; two brothers, William Dotts, of New Columbia and Samuel Dotts, of Montgomery; eight grandchildren, Kelly Smith, Douglas Smith Jr., Craig Smith, Nicole Smith, Brittany Smith, Jocelyn Jamison, Alicia Trate, and Brad Trate; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Crystal Trate; and three brothers, Elwood, Richard, and Renny Dotts.

Friends and relatives will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Christine Mastin officiating.
Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.
