Betty's Story

Betty Mae (King) Reiner passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Watsontown Health & Rehab at the age 80.
She was born Sept. 9, 1936, in Milton, a daughter of the late Frances (Emery) King and the late John Elwood King. She was the eldest of eight children.

Betty was a 1954 graduate of Milton Area High School.
On Oct. 16, 1954, Betty married the late Charles "Charlie" H. Reiner. They had three children, Edward, Susan and Jeffrey. Betty was a devoted homemaker and was well known for her skill as a home baker. She enjoyed embroidery and word find puzzles.
She worked alongside her husband in the family grocery store, Milton Food Rite in the Milton South Gate Plaza. The store closed in the early 1980s which is when Betty began working at the RiverWoods Nursing Home, Lewisburg. She worked there for many years until she retired. At that time, she worked part time alongside her husband in the family hardware business, Bee Cee Pro-Hardware, in Watsontown. She also worked part time as a caregiver for Home Instead in recent years.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Edward and Jane Reiner, of Oak Park, Calif., Sue Cain, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Jeffrey and Janet Reiner, of Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Benjamin C Reiner, Ph.D. and Dr. Teresa Donze-Reiner, Ph.D., of Philadelphia, Melissa S. and Russell Bintz Russell, of Lehigh, Iowa, Jennifer M. and Edward Fuchs, of Montpelier, Vt., and Nicole Cain, of Myrtle Beach. Betty was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Evan, Ayden, and Jackson Bintz (Melissa), Everdean Fuchs (Jennifer), and Alexandra Reiner (Benjamin). Betty is survived by five siblings, Vonnie Mincemoyer, Barb Embeck, Elaine Springer, Jane Hunselman, and Wade King.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Reiner; two brothers, Barry King and John "Butch" King; and a granddaughter, Cari Whittington (Cain).

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St., Watsontown.
Internment will follow in Paradise Cemetery, rural Milton, with the Rev. Thomas Glasoe, of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pottsgrove, officiating.
