Betty T. (Yordy) Hopkins, 95, of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2018, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
She was born June 28, 1922, in Stonington, a daughter of the late Morris and Lillie (George) Yordy. She was married to her beloved husband, Rev. Henry F. Hopkins who passed away in 2001 after 56 years of marriage.
Betty was a 1940 graduate of Sunbury High School.
Early in her career she worked as a secretary in a dental office. She devoted her life, by her husband's side, in service to the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. They served Snydertown charge, Sunbury area; Beaver Meadows, Hazleton area; Calvary, Berwick area; St. Peter's, Riverside; Llyswen, Altoona; Epworth, Harrisburg; Wesley, Williamsport; Huntingdon First, Huntingdon and State College District. There final appointment was Baughman, New Cumberland. In retirement, they would continue to serve at Grace Church, South Williamsport.
Betty enjoyed singing in the choir, solitaire, crossword puzzles, sewing and painting ceramics. She was a beloved friend, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother and was cherished for her unconditional love and the warmth of her smile.
Surviving are two sons, James Hopkins, of Lewisburg, and Steven Hopkins and wife, Lisa, of Harrisburg; one sister, Janice Crowl of Phoenixville; five dear grandchildren, Abbey Norton and husband Garrett, Peter Hopkins, Jonathan Hopkins, Lauren Williams and husband, Nathan, and Meagan Hare and husband, Jeffrey; and four great-grandchildren, Destiny, Connor, Cameron and Ava.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Morris; and one sister, Thelma.
A viewiing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by the funeral at 2, with the Rev. Peter Geschwindner officiating.
Interment will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
