Betty L. Hood

Betty L. Hood, 93, of Northumberland, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center, surrounded by her family,
She was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Ligonier, a daughter of the late Ardell R. and Nellie I. (Mitchell) Graver. On Dec. 15, 1945, in Carlisle, Betty married Edward D. Hood who preceded her in death.
Betty retired from Creation Windows in Selinsgrove.
She was a member of the Shamokin Dam and Hummels Wharf Fire companies and the Northumberland American Legion.

To most who knew Betty she was simply known to all as "Gram" but over the years she acquired other nicknames from the grandkids. Brad came up with Mam Mam Puddin, and it stuck with her through out the years. Silver was another name given to her.
Gram enjoyed bowling, playing cards and bingo, she enjoyed listening to music, she would travel around to listen to her favorite musicians, Billy & Rosie. But most important to Gram was her family, she would never miss a get together, tell her to be there at one and she would show up at noon.

Gram is survived by one son, Boyd Hood; two daughters, Betty Eyerley and Louise James; five granddaughters, Ruth Osman, Jamie DiRocco, Betty Page, Connie Flannery and Melissa Chappell; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Haley, Stephanie, Nick, Kailynn, and Sean; great-great-grandchildren, Kylie, Evalynn, Kayden, Ashton, Braun, Cash and Silas; and many nieces and newphews.

She was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Bradley M. DiRocco; one granddaughter, Penny Welsh; six brothers, Adrian, Chester, Fred, Allen, Robert and Boyd Graver; and two sisters, Bertha Critchfield and Helen Palmer. Gram was the last of her eight siblings.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, followed by the funeral at 11, at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.
