Beatrice's Story

Beatrice I. Charles, 89, formerly of Middleburg, passed away on Wednesday evening, Aug. 2, 2017, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
She was born Dec. 11, 1927, in McClure, a daughter of the late John E. and Mertie (Kline) Lose. On Nov. 18, 1973, she married Edwin F. Charles who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1997.
Beatrice had attended Beaver Vocational High School.
She retired from Middleburg Yarn. Following her retirement she worked for many years as a foster grandparent in the Snyder County Foster Grandparent Program.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Middleburg, and a life member of the Snyder County Historical Society.
Beatrice enjoyed bingo, and swimming and sun bathing. Her greatest joy was found in family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Gail D. "Cookie" Brouse, of Middleburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry L. and Sharon Fisher, of Middleburg, and Gary L. and Diane Fisher, of Selinsgrove; eight grandchildren, Kelli Eichenlaub, Kassi Yerger, Toni Scholl, Bobbi, Jeremy, Alex, Bobby, and Shawn Fisher; and 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Kline, of Mount Pleasant Mills.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward "Gene" and Arthur Lose; seven sisters, Mary Zechman, Lula Walter, Irene Fenstermacher, Iva Hook, Phyllis Eisenhauer, Joyce Fisher, and Barbara Long; and one son-in-law, Robert Brouse.

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the First United Church of Christ, 8671 Route 522, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 3, with the Rev. Alice Rauch officiating.
Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
