Barry Nelson passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at Evangelical Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born April 10, 1954, in Port Chester, N.Y., a son of the late Bernhard and Marie (Kelley) Nelson.
Barry graduated from Lakeland High School, Peekskill, N.Y. He moved to Lewisburg and lived with his stepfamily, whom he dearly loved, for 42 years. Family get-togethers were a great source of joy for him. He was well known for riding his bike all over Lewisburg. He loved attending Lewisburg and Bucknell sporting events and was a familiar figure at them. He especially loved going to Bucknell basketball games and considered himself to be one of their biggest fans except for when they were playing Army. Barry was an avid animal lover and his cat Ethel "Elthle" was one of his best buddies.
He is survived by his stepmother, Mollie Nelson, of Lewisburg; siblings, Tom Glock (Amy), of Red Lion, Steve Glock (Ann), of Lewisburg, Jeff Glock, of Lansdowne, Susan Bird (Mark), of Frederick, Md., Barbara Duym (Tom), of Glen Ridge, N.J., Karen Miller (Paul), of Lewisburg, and Judy Glock, of Montclair, N.J.; nieces and nephews, Libby Glock, Alex Duym (Emily), Drew Miller, Abby Beswick (Glen), Casey Miller, Haden Glock, Katy Glock and Kevin Glock. Also surviving are cousins, David Kelley, of Cary, N.C., Laurie Cohen, of Butler, N.J. and Robbie Male, of Long Island, N.Y.
Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 in the parlor at the First Presbyterian Church, 18 Market St., Lewisburg, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. in the chapel.
Burial will be private in Lewisburg Cemetery.
