Barbara D. Norwood, 67, of Selinsgrove, passed away on Friday evening, Nov. 4, 2016, at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove.
She was born Aug. 4, 1949, in Danville, a daughter of the late Donald F.C. and Ruth V. (Steimling) Shrawder. On Sept. 20, 1969, she married James R. Norwood who survives.
Barbara was a 1967 graduate of Selinsgrove High School and attended Susquehanna University.
She retired in 2005 after 30 years of service with Area Agency on Aging where she was a supervisor.
She was a member of the Sunbury Social Club.
Barbara faithfully read and studied her Bible. She was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing and fishing, but her family was the main focus of her life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Kristina M. Norwood, of Harrisburg; one son, Matthew D. Norwood, and his companion, April Frantz, of Tower City; two stepsons, Brian Carter, of Missouri, and Dwayne Needle, of South Carolina; eight grandchildren, Taylor Sneed and husband, Daniel, Alyssa Norwood, Brianna Norwood, Kaitlin, Ashley, and Caleb Carter, and Madison and Cody Needle; two sisters, Linda Leyder, of Richfield, and Sue Bowen, of Selinsgrove; an uncle, Bob Steimling, of Mifflinburg; and her best friend for more than 50 years and who was like a sister, Rita Wolfe.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Shrawder Jr. in infancy.
Friends and family will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 1, with hospice chaplain, Ricky Phillips officiating.
Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Middleburg.
