Austin T. Coombe Jr., 74, of Sunbury, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at his residence.
He was born March 26, 1943, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Austin and Mabel (Roush) Coombe. In 1991, he married the former Margaret Cavanaugh.
Austin was a 1963 graduate of Northumberland High School.
He was employed by Moore Business Forms and later by the R.R. Donnelly Company. He also owned and operated the Hickory House Restaurant in Lewisburg and the DJ's Restaurant in Selinsgrove.
He was a member of the Sunbury Social Club.
Austin enjoyed fishing and he and his wife made annual fishing trips to Canada. He was an accomplished painter and displayed his work at the annual art show at the Degenstein Library in Sunbury. His most enjoyable time was the time he spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Amy Coombe, of Middleburg; one stepson, Keneth Bethge, of Shamokin; one stepdaughter, Lorraine Allbeck and husband, David, of Sunbury; eight grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Alvarez and Florine Hummel.
There will be a viewing from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the art program at the Degenstein Library, 40 S. Fifth St., Sunbury, PA 17801.
