Arthur "Artie"'s Story
Arthur "Artie" W. Rohrbacher Jr., 74, of N. 11th St., Sunbury, passed away at his home on Oct. 5, 2017.
He was born Aug. 13, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Arthur W. Sr. and Vera (Luisi) Rohrbacher. He married Cheryl A. Raup on Christmas Day, 2016.
Artie graduated from Erasmus High School, N.Y., and joined the Army serving in Alaska.
He was an account analyst for Con-Edison for 18 years.
He was a member of St. Monica Church.
Artie loved volunteering and serving in the Eagles, the American Legion Post 201, the Stonington Fire Company and with the Knights of Columbus.
Everyone knew Artie from town with his infectious smile and wonderful sense of humor. He also was a fan of the N.Y. Mets and N.Y. Giants.
Artie is survived by his wife Cheryl, son, Stephen A. and Linda Rohrbacher, of Staten Island, N.Y.; daughter, Debra J. Slavin, of Santa Clarita, Calif.; son, Gregory R. Rohrbacher, of California; and stepdaughter, Sarah E. Hartman, of Brighton, Mass.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends and family may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the David T. Zweier Funeral Home Inc., 157 Chestnut St., Sunbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Monica Church with the Rev. Fred Wagwe, AJ officiating.
Interment will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
