Aron G. Peters, 67, of Produce Road, Port Trevorton, passed away suddenly and quietly at UPMC Sunbury on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017, after a productive life. He lived a full, passionate life until the end doing the work he loved.
He was born Oct. 22, 1949, in Laird, Saskatchewan, Canada, a son of the late Peter and Helena (Guenther) Peters. On March 14, 1971, he married the former Eva M. Hoover who preceded him in death on Oct. 3, 2014.
Aron was an energetic and enthusiastic man whose generosity touched the lives of many. He enjoyed farming and assisting and advising his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by eight children and their spouses, Matthew and Vonda Peters, of Port Trevorton, Malinda and Gerald Wenger, of Middleburg, Mahlon and Candace Peters, of Monterey, Tenn., Marlene and Noah Schrey, of Gillet, Roman Peters, of Port Trevorton, Ronald and Gwen Peters, of Monterey, Tenn., Alvin and Josephine Peters, of Cantril, Iowa, and Andrew and Leslie Peters, of Detroit, Texas; 23 grandchildren; five brothers, Reuben Peters, of Kentucky, Phillip Peters, of Richfield, Jacob Peters, of North Carolina, Menno and Thielem Peters, both of Arizona; seven sisters, Esther Dyck, Anna Hoover, and Susanna Zimmerman, all of Kentucky, Barbara Hoover, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Maria Stahl and Edna Hoover, both of Port Trevorton, and Edith Zimmerman, of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Simon and Menno James Peters.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Shade Mountain Mennonite Church, 134 Center Road, Mount Pleasant Mills. A funeral service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, 1871 Mensch Road, Mifflinburg, with David Kurtz, Sam Shirk and Sylvan Yoder officiating.
Burial will be in the Old Order Mennonite Cemetery, Port Trevorton.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
