Arlean's Story

Arlean M. Lesher, 82, of Trevorton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 14, 1935, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late George and Edna (Carter) Humes. She lived most of her life in Trevorton. On Feb. 21, 1953, she married Gurney R. Lesher Jr. who preceded her in death on May 24, 2015.

Arlean attended Shamokin schools.
She formerly worked as a seamstress in local factories, and was a homemaker.
Arlean was a long-time member of Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, Trevorton. She loved the Lord, her family and music. She was noted for her abiding faith in God and for her beautiful and powerful singing voice. She sang frequently in her church and as a guest in other churches, and family weddings. As a young girl, Arlean often sang hymns on the radio in Shamokin.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Hill, of Cogan Station, Gail and Joe Weigley, of Dalmatia, Cindy and Robert Foulds of West Cameron Township; four sons and daughters-in-law, David A. and Cheryl Lesher, of Herndon, Keith and Thu Cuc Lesher, of Virginia Beach, Va., Mark and Jennifer Lesher, of Harrisburg, and Eric and Bonnie Lesher, of Trevorton; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters; four brothers; two great-grandsons, Anthony Hill and Joseph Weigley III; one son-in-law, Robert Hill.

A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Evangelical Congregational Church, 615 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, followed by a memorial service at 11, with the Rev. Joshua Notestine officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Trevorton.
