Alfred M. "Bowsey" Smith Jr., 78, of West Milton, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017.
Born Jan. 12, 1939, in White Deer, he was the son of the late Alfred M. and Marian (Weaver) Smith. On April 30, 1983, he married the former Janet M. Strickler and they celebrated 34 years of marriage.
He was a truck driver and member of Teamsters No. 764 in Milton.
He was an avid Penn State fan, enjoyed traveling and cruising, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Dewart.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Cormi Smith, of Texas; four daughters, Angela Smith, of New Columbia, Shaela Conard and her fiancé Leon Weikel, of Sunbury, Susan Peterson and her husband Jim, of Long Valley, N.J. and Judi Yonai and her husband John, of Mebane, N.C.; a step-son, Jeff Snyder and his fiancé Maryann Perles, of Sunbury; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, George Smith; and three sisters, Alma Stump and Helen Hovenstine, both of Milton and Paulette Shutt, of Massachusetts.
He was preceded in death by a step-grandson, Jeffrey Snyder in 2008; and a sister, Phyllis Johnson.
A private graveside service will be held at Watsontown Cemetery with the Rev. John E. Lee officiating.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions in Alfred's memory be made to either the Amerian Lung Association at www.lung.org; or the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Svc PC, 124 Main St., Watsontown.
